Peace Rose Mandala is a 9″ x 12″ ink and watercolour mandala on watercolour paper – mounted and cold wax finished on 1 1/2″ deep wood cradle with typed poem by TJ Radcliffe on cold wax finished watercolour paper mounted on attached 6″ x 9″ matching cradle.
Creating mandalas is a meditative process for me drawing on childhood memories and life experience. My grandfather grew peace roses in his small rose garden and the colour and scent still linger with me. There is also a play on words here with a “compass rose” having roses pointing in the eight compass directions. Celtic knots and botanical patterns with rose buds and thorns point the way while lady bugs meander.
Frameless – ready to hang.
